Berbice Interim Board

I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Public Management in 2004 at the University of Guyana Berbice Campus. I was amongst the first batch of students who graduated from UGBC at its first convocation in 2002 and also was amongst the first batch of students to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in 2004.

I started working at the University of Guyana Berbice Campus Library immediately after graduating in 2004 and have been working there since. I love volunteering my time and labour to a worthy cause and I have volunteered over the years at a few NGOs in Berbice.

The Alumni Association Berbice Chapter finally being formed is a dream come true for me, I have been working hard towards this for a few years now. Being part of this body is very significant for me and I will work very hard towards achieving the goals of this body.

After completion, I continued working with the Ministry of Social Protection as a Probation and Social Services Officer attached to the Childcare and Protection Agency. Life was a bit boring after my first degree so I therefore sought to embark on another journey that took me to the Turkeyen Campus where I completed a Masters in Social Work.

It’s a bit depressing when I thought about being unable to give back anything to my University and often times visited the Berbice Campus just to take a stroll and reminisce on my time there. Thus, being part of the Alumni Association is a wonderful opportunity to be part of something great and being able to serve my Universit

I have a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Guyana and I currently spend my time volunteering for various organizations and helping in any way I can. In my free time I enjoy reading and hanging out with friends.

It is a privilege of mine to be part of the University of Guyana’s Alumni Association. It is something that I am proud of because it gives me the opportunity to give back to the University and to contribute to its upliftment, in hopes that many others would be given a chance to experience the beauty and joy of life on campus.

I am Nadine King 56 years old of 312 Tucber Park New Amsterdam Berbice. I attended Berbice High School in 1975 to 1979 and was the first batch of graduates from UGBC in 2002 and 2004 where I acquired a Degree in Public Management.

In 2008 I completed the Diploma in Education at the University of Guyana Turkeyen Campus and a Masters’ in Business Administration at the Australia University in 2018.

I have 13 years’ experience as a Clerk and Personnel Officer at Regional Democratic Council Region #6 and another 13 years in my present position as Inspector of Taxes Guyana Revenue Authority New Amsterdam Berbice.

My hobbies are reading, travelling, meeting and helping people. I practice diplomacy in my everyday life which helps me to deal with difficult people including staff.

Elected as member (from Berbice Campus) on the University of Guyana Student Society for the academic years 2011/2012 and 2012/2013.

Recipient of the Best Graduating Student award from Division of Agriculture UGBC in 2013 with a BSc. Agriculture (General). Also received the Director's Award. Awarded a MSc. Botany from the University of Madras in 2016. Appointed HOD - Agricultural Science at Corentyne Comprehensive High School in 2013 and serves as a Part-Time Lecturer at UGBC from 2016 to present.

My Alma mater played an important role in my academic development and therefore I am willing to work towards the continued development of the University of Guyana. "Mens sana encorpore sano".

My experience at the university was a very exciting one one because I gained lots of experiences as well as knowledge. I met people from all walks of life and during my stay, I learned to appreciate and value the simple things that family would do for you. These experiences meant a lot and I want to give back to my Alma Mater and serve this great institution in whatever way I can.

Mr. Jonas was born and raised in the ancient County of Berbice. He attended the Corpus Christi Nursey School, Gibraltar- Courtland Primary School, Lower Corentyne Secondary School, New Amsterdam Technical Institute, Cyril Potter College of Education, University of Guyana Berbice Campus and now reads for a Master’s Degree.

He is attached to the Gibraltar- Courtland primary School as a Graduate Senior Assistant Master, part time lecturer at NATI and UGBC. He graduated from the University of Guyana Berbice Campus in 2011- Bachelor of Social Science- Social Work.

He is a Senior Pastor of the Church of God (7th Day), National Secretary/Treasurer of the Guyana Conference of Churches of God (7th Day), Marriage Officer and Counsellor, Justice of the Peace and Commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits. Mr. Jonas is also happily married with two children.

I majored in a Bachelor degree in Biology at University of Guyana Berbice Campus, during the period of 2012- 2016. I am a recipient of the UGBC Director’s award and the Best graduating student with highest GPA in Faulty of Natural Sciences. Today I’m a currently a Marine Biologist.

Being indulged with UGBC have educated me in many exemplary things, but most elaborately, to have embryonic friendships, asphyxiating challenges, developing new ideas and to work profusely with professionalism, creatively and initiative, under any circumstances and thus building strong connections with others regardless of age, race or religion.
